The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has revealed the first results of Saudi Arabia's 2022 census, showcasing the country's population exceeding 32 million. This comprehensive and precise population survey highlights key insights into Saudi Arabia's demographic landscape.
Key findings of the census include:
1️. Population Composition: Saudis make up 58.4% of the total population, amounting to 18.8 million individuals, while non-Saudis constitute 41.6% with a population of 13.4 million.
2️. Youthful Population: The median age of the population is 29, with Saudis under the age of 30 accounting for 63% of the total population, indicating a vibrant and dynamic society.
3️. Gender Distribution: Males represent 61% of the population, reaching 19.7 million, while females account for 39% with a population of 12.5 million. Riyadh ranks as the largest Saudi city by population, followed by Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, and Dammam.
The census also provides detailed insights into family composition, housing, education, health, employment, income, migration, and diversity, with announcements expected in the coming months.
GASTAT has adopted the best international methodologies and employed advanced technologies to ensure the accuracy of the census data. The results, with an accuracy rate of over 95%, were obtained through meticulous follow-up phone calls and a random sample of over one million people. International experts have recognized the Saudi census methodology as one of the most accurate worldwide.
Faisal Al-Ibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning and Chairman of GASTAT, emphasized the significance of the census for planning, decision-making, and achieving the goals of Vision 2030. The meticulousness and accuracy of the census reflect the guidance and support of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
This census marks a milestone in Saudi Arabia's history, providing a comprehensive and accurate dataset. GASTAT has developed a dedicated website where the census results are available through interactive dashboards, maps, reports, tables, and charts. Additionally, a live-streamed webinar will be conducted to discuss the census methodology and key findings.
