There are 6 types of leave in the Saudi Labor Law, each with its own conditions for entitlement, according to Human Development Trainer, Musab Al-Jarfali.

Al-Jarfali, in an interview with Al-Arabiya FM, stated that the six types of leave in Saudi Arabia's labor law include the following:

1. Official Leave

The official leave or holiday includes four occasions that all workers are entitled to: the Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha holidays, the National Day holiday, and the Founding Day holiday. These are due to the worker without exception, and if there is an agreement between the worker and the employer, work on these days entitles the worker to additional pay.

2. General Leave

Annual leave is not less than 21 days until five years of service, after which it increases to 30 days.

3. Special Leave

Special leaves include leave for the birth of a child, marriage, death, educational exams, and performing the Hajj pilgrimage, ranging from 10 to 15 days.

4. Leave for Women

This includes maternity leave, leave for the death waiting period (iddah), and other related circumstances.

5. Sick Leave

Employees are entitled to sick leave as stipulated by the labor law.

6. Leave Without Pay

Emergency leave and other unpaid leaves are by agreement between the employer and the worker.

Al-Jarfali continued, "The annual leave is due to the worker after one year, but the system clarifies that the employer has the right to postpone that leave for 90 days in the interest of work. Anything beyond that requires the worker's approval," noting that leave without pay is agreed upon between the employer and the worker.
