During the past few hours, social media sites in Saudi Arabia have been buzzing with stories of a student detained in a classroom in Hofuf, a city in the Al-Ahsa governorate in the Eastern Province. As a result, the education authorities in the governorate quickly sacked the school director and his deputy.
A committee formed by the Director General of the Education Department in Al-Ahsa Hamad Al-Issa terminated the services of the director and deputy director of Al-Mamoun Intermediate School in Hofuf.
In the video clip, the student calls for help from the window of a classroom on the second floor of the school after school hours have ended. The student was detained inside the school even after school hours.
Based on the video clip that was circulated on social media platforms, the Education Department in Al-Ahsa formed a specialized investigation committee and took disciplinary action against the officials.
