Three people were slightly injured and property was damaged after Houthi attacks targeted two airports in southern Saudi Arabia, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
Jazan and Najran Airports Targeted
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) said that King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport were targeted on Monday evening, October 5.
The incidents affected two major airports in southern Saudi Arabia, prompting an immediate response from emergency teams and relevant authorities.
GACA said emergency response teams acted immediately in accordance with established emergency plans following the reported Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
Three People Injured in the Attacks
Three people sustained slight injuries in the incidents and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities also reported property damage following the attacks. GACA said it is coordinating with the relevant authorities to assess the extent of the damage and determine whether any airport facilities were affected.
Airport Safety Measures Activated
Following the Saudi airport attacks, authorities began procedures to verify the safety and security of airport facilities and ensure the continued protection of passengers.
GACA said measures were being taken to maintain passenger safety and protect the security of civil aviation operations at the affected airports.
The authority is also working with the relevant agencies to assess the situation and ensure that appropriate safety procedures remain in place.
Houthis Claim Attacks on Southern Saudi Arabia
The Houthis claimed late Monday that their forces had targeted several sites across southern Saudi Arabia, including airports and military facilities.
The claims came as fighting involving the group continues to intensify, increasing security concerns around southern areas of the Kingdom.
The latest incident follows previous attacks and attempted attacks targeting civilian infrastructure in southern Saudi Arabia. In an earlier incident, Saudi air defenses intercepted drones targeting Abha Airport and Najran.
