What began as a joyful day for 13-year-old Badr bin Mohammed Al Halafi ended in tragedy, as he lost his life in a devastating school bus accident. Badr, having just completed his final exams, was eagerly looking forward to celebrating his winter break, but an unexpected turn of events shattered his family’s happiness.
Details of the Accident
The Incident
Badr’s father recounted the details of the heartbreaking accident. While on the way home, Badr was leaning against the bus door, which suddenly swung open due to a failure in securing it. This caused Badr to fall from the moving bus, and, tragically, he was run over by the vehicle.
Last Moments with His Family
In a painful memory, Badr’s father described his last moments with his son. "Before heading to the bus on his last day of exams, he was full of joy, excited about the break. I wished him well, saying, ‘May God bless you and bring you happiness.’ That was the last time I saw him," the grieving father shared.
The Aftermath
The Shock
Shortly after the afternoon prayer, Badr’s father received a call from the bus driver. “I rushed to the accident site, which was halfway between our home and school, only to find that my son had passed away instantly due to a head injury,” he said.
Family’s Resilience and Faith
Despite the unbearable loss, the family has accepted fate, expressing faith in God’s will. “We were planning to spend the vacation together, but that was not meant to be. Badr was cherished by all—his family, classmates, and teachers. We believe in God’s decree,” his father stated.
The Funeral and Community Mourning
A funeral prayer for Badr was held on Wednesday afternoon at Prince Fahd bin Mohammed Mosque on Al Ha’ir Road in Riyadh, with his burial taking place at Mansouriya Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by family, friends, and school staff, all grieving the loss of a cherished young boy.
