Saudi Arabia Arrests Over 17,000 For Residency, Labour, And Border Violations

From May 16 to May 22, Saudi Arabia's intensified security operations have resulted in the arrest of 17,030 individuals for violations of residency, labor, and border regulations across the Kingdom.

Key Details:

Residency Violations: 10,662 individuals were detained for breaching residency laws.

Border Security Violations: 4,147 were apprehended for violating border security regulations.

Labour Law Violations: 2,221 individuals were arrested for flouting labor laws.

Illegal Entry Attempts:

Illegal Entrants: 1,119 people were caught attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally, predominantly of Ethiopian nationality (71%), followed by Yemeni (27%), and other nationalities (2%).

Illegal Exits: 65 individuals were detained while attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.

Facilitators and Legal Actions:

Facilitators Arrested: 17 individuals were arrested for aiding in the transportation, sheltering, and employment of violators.

Diplomatic and Deportation Efforts: 33,255 violators were referred to their respective diplomatic missions for travel document processing, 1,945 had their travel arrangements finalized, and 13,646 were deported.

Legal Consequences:

The Ministry of Interior has warned of severe penalties for those assisting violators of the Kingdom’s border security system. Penalties include:

Imprisonment: Up to 15 years

Fines: Up to one million riyals

Property Confiscation: Confiscation of vehicles and property used in the offences
