The Jeddah Personal Status Court issued a ruling annulling the marriage of a Saudi couple after the husband shot his wife in the neck while she was asleep, Okaz newspa-per reported on Wednesday.

The wife told the court that her husband said he would give her a surprise, and a few days later, he lit candles in the bedroom and put the duvet over his wife claiming the weather was so cold. He then shot her from close range with a gun.

The victim also said that he left her bleeding for six hours before taking her to hospital. She said that he threatened her if she revealed the truth at the hospital and would burn her.

Bullet wound

The woman told interrogators that her husband told her to tell hospital administration that the bullet wound was accidental.

After she was discharged from the hospital, her husband locked her in their house, took away her mobile phone and prevented her from going out.

However, the hospital informed security authorities, which conducted a criminal investigation into the shooting. The investigation team proved that the shooting was from close-up range and was not accidental.
