According to the Saudi Arabian Directorate General of Health Affairs, two illegal female expatriates who were performing abortions were arrested in cooperation with the security authorities.
It was reported that the 2 expats were performing abortions in a residential apartment in the south of Riyadh in an environment that did not meet minimum medical and health requirements. In addition to violating the Kingdom's regulations, they were arrested in a serious violation that threatens the health and safety of patients.
Furthermore, the authority reported that the two arrested individuals were referred to the Public Prosecution for violating Article 28 of the Law on Practicing Health Professions, which carries a penalty of up to six months in prison and 100,000 riyals in fine.
Additionally, the Directorate seized expired medical materials, materials that facilitate abortions, and materials of unknown origin. As well as the reports received by service beneficiaries on @SaudiMOH937, Riyadh Health confirmed the continuation of its sudden inspection rounds.
- The Riyadh Health Affairs clarified that it will not tolerate any deficiencies which affect the health and safety of citizens and residents, and that any health institution who fails to meet the required quality standards of health services will face the most severe penalties and legal measures, in order to force them to improve their conditions and remove all observations in accordance with the rules.
