Airport authorities in Pakistan on Friday arrested two people after a sizable quantity of methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth, worth millions was recovered from their possession at Islamabad International Airport.
The two were scheduled to fly via a private airline and had hidden the drugs inside a gas burner. According to Express News, Airport Security Force (ASF) officials recovered around four kilogrammes from passengers Jan Mohammad and Masood Ahmed.
Suspect Masood Ahmed belongs to Charsadda while Jan Muhammad belongs to Mardan. Both passengers were handed over to the Anti-Narcotic Force (ANF) officials for further investigation.
On March 10, a mother, son duo were heading to Saudi Arabia, was apprehended at the Peshawar airport with drugs, officials said.
Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials further stated that they had intercepted the duo, who were scheduled to fly to Jeddah for performing the pilgrimage.
Officials said that during a search of their belongings by ASF, they recovered 950 grams of crystal meth. The passengers were subsequently handed over to the ANF for further action.
