Saudi police have arrested 11 suspects alleged to have committed two separate robberies in the capital Riyadh, according to a local security official.

Two Sudanese nationals and a Chadian man, who are illegal residents, were arrested in Riyadh for robbing pedestrians at knife point and seizing cars by force, Major Khalid Al Karidis, an assistant spokesman for the city’s police said today.

The stolen cars were retrieved and handed back to their owners, he said. The suspects had also stolen other items worth SR45,000.

In a separate incident, Riyadh police arrested seven Saudi citizens and a Yemeni national for allegedly stealing cars to use in robberies, Al Karidis said. They also stole money and valuables worth SR120,000, he added.
