The health authorities in the Saudi province of Jazan launched an inquiry into the case of a pregnant woman who gave birth in the back seat of a car in broad daylight.
A female doctor examined the woman and denied her admission to the Ohud Al Masarha, telling her that her delivery was not due, Sabq reported.
The husband said that his wife had not been admitted to the maternity ward although she was in labour and crying out in pain.
He was forced to rush his wife in his car to another hospital located a few kilometres away, but she gave birth in the back seat before reaching the hospital’s emergency.
“I heard the new-born baby screaming as I was driving off to the hospital and realised that my wife had already given birth unassisted,” he said.
A medical team from the second hospital then rushed to the woman and provided her and her newborn baby with all necessary care.
