Weather Conditions Give Employers The Right To Allow Employees To Work Remotely
Category: Weather

As a matter of safety and avoiding exposing their employees to danger, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) confirmed on Monday that employers have the right to allow their employees to work remotely or not come to the workplace due to weather conditions.

According to the MHRSD, employers may compensate workers for delayed hours or absences at other times.

In addition to the ministry's announcement, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued alerts about heavy rain in several Saudi Arabian regions.

In terms of work requirements and its conditions, this is also consistent with chapters 6 and 8 of the Kingdom's Labor Law.

Furthermore, the health and social services sectors are also regulated in order to prevent work risks, major industrial accidents, and work injuries.

When the competent government entity issues an alert about heavy rains, the MHRSD calls on all private sector establishments to take the utmost precautions to ensure the safety of workers.
