The United States on Tuesday lauded the remarkable role being played by Saudi Arabia in the fight against Daesh (the so-called IS) terrorist organization.

US Presidential Special Envoy to the Global Coalition Against Daesh Brett H. McGurk thanked Saudi Arabia, Morocco and other countries participating in the Coalition for their efforts against the hateful ideology of Daesh and other terrorist organizations and their role in combating terrorism, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The US official made the remarks in a speech at the opening session of the regional meeting of political directors of the Coalition in the Moroccan city of Skhirat.

He noted that the Coalition countries are determined to achieve a rapid victory against this terrorist organization.

Referring to terrorist groups in the Maghreb, the Sahel and West Africa regions, MacGurk noted that these organizations are an extension of former Al-Qaeda groups and that they have tried, under Daesh, to grab maximum resources through their links with Syria.
