Countries most affected by Iran’s threats must be party to any future agreement with Tehran, said Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan, on Monday.

“Iranian regime’s support for militias across the region as well as its nuclear activities and ballistic missiles pose a threat to the security and stability of Arab countries and the region,” Prince Faisal said, while addressing an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers in Cairo.

Prince Faisal condemned the Iran-backed Al Houthi militia’s continued attacks, targeting civilian facilities in the Kingdom.

“Arab countries are united to confront the challenges facing the region,” said Prince Faisal, calling on the international community to put an end to Iran’s violations and threats to the region.

The Saudi minister also welcomed the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement by the Yemeni parties, appreciating their keenness on safeguarding the interests of their country. He emphasized the Kingdom’s firm position with regard to the creation of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of 67, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers began in Cairo to discuss several key issues on the agenda, including the developments in the region; dealing with the policy of the new US administration, and the structure of the Arab League.
