The Kingdom Remains The Third Most Popular Destination For Migrants
Category: Saudi Arabia

For the second consecutive year, Saudi Arabia ranked third on the list of top migration destinations, according to local media

Saudi Arabia has become a global commercial and investment destination, attracting 13.5 million expats to its shores, according to the United Nations International Organization for Migration's World Migration Report 2022.

Since 1970, the US has been the primary destination for migrants. Since then, the number of foreign-born people residing in the country has more than quadrupled from less than 12 million in 1970 to close to 50.6 million in 2019.

Germany, the second most popular destination for migrants, has also seen an increase from 8.9 million in 2000 to nearly 16 million in 2020. Saudi Arabia came third with 13.5 migrants and was followed by Russia, UK, France, the UAE, and Canada.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said earlier this month that Saudi Arabia's population is expected to reach 50 to 60 million by 2030, with half of them foreigners.

NEOM will accommodate ten million people, while Riyadh will accommodate 25 million, the Crown Prince told reporters after unveiling The Line project's designs.
