Shuttle Buses In Madinah To Transport 1.35m People
Category: Travel

The Madinah Development Commission is planning to transport 1,350,000 persons to and from the Prophet’s Mosque, using shuttle buses to reduce traffic in the Central Area of the mosque, Makkah daily reported. Ten bus stations will be used to transport residents and visitors of Madinah.

The shuttle buses have proved to be successful in Ramadan, with high satisfaction percentage. Several government agencies played a role in ensuring that people get premium transportation services and that all safety requirements are adhered to.

Over 110 Saudis drive the buses that have special seats for the elderly and the physically challenged. Over 100 buses work every day from 3 pm until after Taraweeh prayer except on Friday when they work from 10 am. The operation schedule changes during the last ten days of Ramadan as business work until the late night prayer.

An electronic application for Madinah buses was launched for the first time to make bus services accessible electronically to all residents and visitors.

The Madinah bus operational plan includes these places: Shadha, Al-Azhari District, Aldeaitha District, Islamic University, Stadium, Al-Aliya Mall, Sayed Al-Shohda, Al-Khalidiya, Al-Hijra and Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport Bus Station.
