Saudi Woman Whose Car Was Torched Had Been Offered New Car

A Saudi woman whose car was torched in the governorate of Al-Jumoom had been offered a new car.
Makkah Municipal Council Vice Chairman Fahd Al-Ruqi received Salma Sherif and handed her a new car in a move which won praise by social media users.
A video and photos posted on social media websites showed her receiving her new car, in the company of her elderly father.
Saudi police arrested the arsonist who set Salma’s car on fire in Al-Samad only a week after the kingdom lifted a ban on female motorists.
Salma, a 31-year-old cashier based near Makkah, said her car had been deliberately set alight this week by men “opposed to women drivers”.
