The Saudi Passports General Directorate has set a number of controls and conditions related to the issuance of travel permits for its excluded groups during the period of suspension of international flights during the pandemic of the new Corona virus (Covid 19), through the Absher platform for electronic services.

The directorate clarified through its official account on the social networking site “Twitter” that the controls and conditions for the first category (civil and military government employees assigned to official missions) stipulate that the official task cannot be performed remotely, and that the task is not linked to a date that can be postponed, and that participation be in the narrowest scope. In order to obtain a travel permit, a letter from the agency’s first official must be attached, specifying the names of the taxpayers, the mission, its location, its duration, and evidence of fulfilling the aforementioned conditions.

The second category

They are (citizens with humanitarian cases), especially cases of family reunification of the citizen or citizenship with their relatives residing outside the Kingdom, or cases of death of the husband or wife or one of the parents or one of the sons or daughters outside the Kingdom, and with regard to family reunification of the citizen or citizenship with their resident relatives Outside the Kingdom The regulations have made clear the necessity to prove the relationship of kinship (husband – wife – father – mother) for a resident outside the Kingdom, and proof of residency in the country to which he is required to travel to the other party, in addition to the inability of one of the spouses, parents, sons or daughters to come to the Kingdom, in addition to proving the location of study Children outside the Kingdom certified by the Ministry of Education or one of the Kingdom’s representations in the country to which they want to travel, in the event that there are children of school age. As for cases of death of a husband, wife, one of the parents, or one of the children outside the Kingdom, the death certificate must be presented, and the relationship of kinship must be proven.

The third category

They (citizens residing outside the Kingdom and their companions), who have proof of their residency outside the Kingdom, the controls and conditions include that the following documents are submitted to prove residency abroad: Proof of residency in the country to which to travel (document or deed) owning a property or a valid rental contract Before issuing these controls, a valid residence card in the country to which the travel is requested is valid (permanent or semi-permanent), and proof that the applicant was spending periods outside the Kingdom of not less than (6) months in total per year during the previous three years.

According to Al-Riyadh newspaper, the General Directorate of Passports confirmed that the service of sending applications is available through the “Absher – Individuals” platform for electronic services, and that the issuance of permits for these groups is done by the Ministry of Interior represented by the General Directorate of Passports in accordance with the aforementioned controls and conditions.
