Despite claiming 53 marriages, a Saudi man says his aim was stability and peace of mind, not personal pleasure.

The 63-year-old man is now married to one woman and has no plans to remarry, according to Saudi-owned television MBC.

"When I married for the first time, I didn't plan to marry more than one woman because I felt comfortable and had children," he said. However, problems occurred and I decided to marry again when I was 23 years old and informed my wife of my decision," the man known as Abu Abdullah or Abdullah's father said.

After his first and second wives had a falling out, he remarried for the third and fourth times. He later divorced his first, second, and third wives.

According to him, his multiple marriages were a result of his attempt to find a woman who could make him happy.

"I married 53 women over a long period of time. "I met her when I was 20 years old and she was six years older than me." he said.

According to him, his shortest marriage lasted one night. The desire of every man in the world is to have one woman and to remain with her forever... An old woman is more stable than a young one," he said.

While on overseas business trips, Abu Abdullah married foreign women as well as Saudi women. I used to stay for three to four months at a time. "I married to protect myself from vice," he said.

Despite the fact that Islam permits you to marry four wives at once, you should only marry one woman if you cannot deal with them all equally.
