Saudi Man Arrested For Setting Bus Waiting Area On Fire In Riyadh
Category: Crime News

In a recent incident in Riyadh, Saudi police have apprehended a man who set fire to a bus waiting area using an inflammable substance. The General Directorate of Public Security in the kingdom shared a video showing the individual, dressed in traditional Saudi attire, spraying the substance before igniting the fire. The motive behind this act remains unknown.

Over the past few years, Saudi authorities have made several arrests related to suspected arson attacks. In December of the previous year, a Saudi citizen was arrested for allegedly setting two parked cars on fire following a dispute with their owners in Al Quryyat governorate, Al Jouf region. The incident was the result of an unspecified disagreement.

In November 2021, Saudi police arrested a Yemeni expatriate who had purportedly set 100 beehives ablaze, owned by a Saudi citizen, after a dispute between them in the Jazan region. Jizan is renowned for its beehives and high-quality honey.

A month before this incident, a Saudi man's car was set on fire while he was attending Friday prayers in Jizan, presumably due to arson. Surveillance footage from nearby stores revealed an individual setting the car on fire before fleeing the scene. The motive for this act was not disclosed by the police.
