According to the Saudi Interior Ministry, the Prime Minister will issue a decision granting citizenship to certain individuals.
Emirate of Mecca Province's official Twitter account announced the decision.
Article Eight of the Saudi Nationality Law will be amended by the decision published in the official gazette "Um Al Qura" on Friday.
Saudi nationality may be granted by order of the Prime Minister following a proposal from the Minister of Interior.
This represents a major change from the previous regulations, as Article 28 of the Executive Regulations of the Saudi Nationality Law has been deleted, which required the Minister of Interior to issue necessary decisions to grant nationality in accordance with Article 8 of the Law.
Upon publication in the Official Gazette, the decision will come into effect, and it will be communicated to those who must adopt and comply with it.
