Starting May 15, residents without valid entry permits will be barred from entering Mecca, as Saudi Arabia seeks to regulate the Hajj pilgrimage for this year.
The General Directorate of Public Security clarified that the new rules apply to expat residents, except for those with permits, or workers at holy sites and residents holding an identity card issued in the Holy Capital.
The annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca is set to begin on June 26, with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah emphasizing that visit visa holders are not permitted to participate in Hajj rituals.
