Saudi Arabia Implements Strict Traffic Rules To Ensure Student Safety
Category: Traffic

The General Department of Traffic (GDT) in Saudi Arabia is prioritizing student safety on the roads by enforcing stringent traffic regulations.

To deter dangerous behavior, hefty fines ranging from SR3,000 to SR6,000 await drivers who overtake school buses while they are picking up or dropping off students.

Saudi law imposes fines from SR100 to SR150 for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians at designated crossings, underscoring the significance of pedestrian safety.

The General Directorate of Public Security emphasizes the need for motorists to exercise caution by reducing speeds in the vicinity of educational institutions and giving students the right of way, thus enhancing their protection.

In alignment with these safety measures, the Public Transport Authority (PTA) urges students to exclusively use transportation services offered by licensed entities. These services, catering to all educational levels, are required to strictly adhere to regulatory technical specifications.

Penalties are clearly defined for violations, encompassing operating without a license and drivers lacking the necessary eligibility card.
