Investment Opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s Mining Sector

Saudi Arabia has launched seven mining exploration licenses for local and international investors, covering a total area of 1,070 square kilometers across the regions of Mecca and Riyadh.

Mining Sites in Mecca

Mecca offers four sites rich in valuable minerals such as gold, copper, and zinc:

  • Wadi Al Lith: Spanning 243 square kilometers, containing copper, zinc, and gold deposits.
  • Jabal Baydan: Covers 244 square kilometers with copper, gold, zinc, silver, and lead.
  • Umm Ajlan: A 78 square kilometer site with copper, lead, and gold deposits.
  • Jabal Al Daamah: With 210 square kilometers, this site holds silver, lead, and zinc.

Mining Sites in Riyadh

  • Jabal Al Khullah (North): Covers 98 square kilometers with zinc, silver, and lead.
  • Jabal Al Khullah (South): A 19 square kilometer area with zinc, lead, and silver.
  • Jabal Sabha: Spanning 171 square kilometers with silver, lead, zinc, and cobalt.

Vision 2030 and the Future of Mining

The initiative, led by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, aims to accelerate the exploration of Saudi Arabia's $2.5 trillion mineral reserves as part of the country's Vision 2030 strategy. This plan focuses on establishing mining as a crucial pillar of the Saudi economy.

How to Apply for Licenses through the Ta’adeen Platform

The submission period for technical offers started in mid-October and will close in mid-November. The winners of this seventh round of licenses will be announced in December

The Ministry has also launched the Ta’adeen platform, providing detailed geological and technical information about the sites. Interested investors can access the platform to review competition procedures and download technical reports.
