The General Commission For Audiovisual Media (GCAM) has reported that since the opening of cinemas in Saudi Arabia in 2018, 31 Saudi movies have been produced and screened. These movies have contributed to the realization of the Saudi Vision 2030 targets and goals of diversifying sources of income and entertainment in the country.
According to GCAM, the top 5 Saudi movies with the highest turnout of cinema lovers are Sattar, Alhamour, Born a King, Shams Al-Ma'arif, and Masameer. Sattar has topped the list with nearly 1 million tickets sold, followed by Alhamour and Born a King at the second and third places respectively.
The success of these movies highlights the support for local movie production in Saudi Arabia, which aims to enhance the country's cultural identity and promote local talent. The increase in the number of movie theaters and the screening of local films have provided Saudis with more entertainment options, resulting in a boost to the economy.
