Official Launch of Riyadh Metro
The Riyadh Metro project will officially commence operations on December 1, 2024, according to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. The phased launch is designed to ensure a seamless commuting experience for users in Saudi Arabia's capital.
Phase One: Opening of Key Lines
The first phase will kick off with the opening of the following metro lines:
- Yellow Line: Serving King Khalid International Airport Corridor.
- Blue Line: Connecting Olaya Street to Batha.
- Purple Line: Connecting Abdulrahman bin Auf Road to Sheikh Hassan Bin Hussein Road.
Subsequent Line Openings
Additional lines will open shortly after:
- December 15: Green Line along King Abdulaziz Road and Red Line along King Abdullah Road.
- January 5, 2025: Orange Line serving the Madinah Road Corridor.
