A large number of residents in Al-Sabaan, some 70 kilometers east of Hail, have deserted the village and moved to places that have better infrastructure.

The residents complained that the streets are not asphalted and illuminated, which lead to a lot of road accidents. The residents who have stayed put called upon the authorities to improve the infrastructure.

Muhammad Al-Sulaiman, one of the residents, said most of his neighbors have moved to Hail city because the village does not have any development work and its streets are not clean.

The residents submitted their demands to the authorities 14 years ago and called for a solution to piling garbage and lack of hygiene in the neighborhoods. The streets are in a bad condition and cause frequent accidents because they do not have traffic lights or roundabouts.

Ahmed Al-Ali, one of the residents, called for building a playground for young men where they can practice their hobbies and build a public park for families and children.

Children are exposed to frequent danger of electrocution because of uncovered electric cables, Al-Ali said, calling upon the authorities to take necessary action to eliminate such threats.

Khalaf Al-Turaifi, spokesman for Al-Shenan Municipal Council, said members of the council recommended to the municipality to illuminate the streets and to immediately complete a public park project in Al-Sabaan.
