The Riyadh region police have successfully apprehended a driver who fled the scene after intentionally hitting a motorcycle in Riyadh. Following the necessary legal procedures, the offender has been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
In an official statement shared on its X account, the Public Security confirmed the arrest of the driver who recorded the incident of hitting the motorcycle. The arrest was made in response to a viral video clip depicting a reckless driver purposefully colliding with a motorcycle on a public road in Riyadh. Social media users condemned the driver's actions, labeling them as endangering lives and calling for maximum punishment.
It's crucial to note that Article 63 of the Saudi Traffic Law mandates that any driver involved in a traffic accident must remain at the scene, inform authorities, and offer assistance to the injured. Failure to do so can result in penalties, including a fine up to SR10,000 or imprisonment for a maximum of three months, or both.
