The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs carried out more than 125,000 inspection tours at mosques across the Kingdom in the past six weeks to ensure the implementation of COVID-19 precautionary measures and health protocols.
According to a report issued by the ministry’s agency for mosque affairs, 314 violations of preventive measures were detected and immediately addressed, including wearing face masks and not bringing prayer rugs, in addition to not implementing physical distancing.
The ministry reported a failure to implement preventive and precautionary measures in 2,104 mosques in Saudi Arabia and immediate steps were taken to address the issues.
The ministry called on everyone to call the Service Centre 1933 and report violations of precautionary measures in mosques.
