The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has clarified that no Umrah permits will be issued for domestic pilgrims who are above the age of 70, even though they received Coronavirus vaccination.
“Saudi Citizens and expatriates living in the Kingdom and who are between the age of 18 and 70 can apply for Umrah permits, as per the instructions of the Health Ministry of Health. The Ministry added that, It is not allowed to add children as companions whereas the permit holder can add his/her mother as a companion”.
- The ministry also stated that taking coronavirus vaccination is not a necessity to get Umrah permits. “What ever is required is available while applying for the permit through 'Eatmarna' app, apart from this proving the health status of no Covid-19 infection through the 'Tawakkalna' app.
- Earlier, The Ministry of Health had advised those wishing to perform Hajj and Umrah to take vaccines against coronavirus, while the assistant minister of Health and the Ministry spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali said that the requirement of taking vaccination against coronavirus to perform Umrah is still under study.
- Recently, The ministry also said that the vaccination against coronavirus is must for those wishing to perform Hajj this year 2021.
