By 2030, Saudi Arabia plans to localize 85% of its food industry, according to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA).

It is estimated that Saudi Arabia imports food for 70 billion riyals annually, according to Dr. Ali Al-Sabhan, Supervisor General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. Considering the great support provided by the Ministry, the food sector offers several opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, and small and medium businesses (SMEs).

As part of the Gulf Entrepreneurs Forum, Al-Sabhan spoke at a seminar with the slogan "The Impact of Entrepreneurship and Innovation on Food and Environmental Security of Gulf Cooperation Council States".

According to Saudi Gazette, Saudi Arabia targets to increase its fish production by 500% and exports to 3 billion riyals by 2025, as well as date exports to 2.5 billion riyals.

According to him, the ministry is adopting a strategy to develop innovation and entrepreneurship, which will eventually improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the environment, water, and agriculture sectors.

In addition to developing pioneering projects and activating local and international strategic partnerships, the Ministry calls on entrepreneurs to benefit from its various programs.
