According to Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat), a medical examination is required in order to issue a new iqama (residence permit) to an employee that works for a particular company.
The tweet was sent in response to a question asked by the official Jawazat Twitter account, -“To issue a new iqama (residence permit) for a worker in an individual establishment, is a medical examination or medical insurance required before the issuance of a iqama after the medical examination?”
Jawazat stated that a new iqama can be issued through the Absher or Muqeem platform of the employer after payment of fee, and the procedure must be completed with a medical examination.
Jawazat reiterated that if a qama isn't issued within 90 days after a person arrives, they will be fined 500 riyals.
