The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has set the permitted age for registering the biometric fingerprint of expat children.

This came in response to a query by one of the beneficiaries on the official Jawazat account on Twitter, who asked, "From which age, expats children fingerprints can be registered?"

- Saudi Jawazat explained through its official Twitter account that the permitted age for registering a fingerprint for an expatriate is from the age of 6 years and over.

- Earlier, Jawazat call all expats living in the Kingdom to come forward to register the biometric fingerprints of their children aged 6 years and above at the earliest possible.

- The General Directorate of Passports confirmed that registering the fingerprints of resident expats and their dependents is a condition for getting access to various passport services.

- On the other hand, Jawazat said failure to register the biometric fingerprint of workers exposes to suspending the services of the sponsors or employers. All expat workers and their family members are required to register fingerprint for completing of residency and travel procedures.

- Saudi Arabia has made registration of biometric fingerprints must for all male and female expats as well as visitors and pilgrims.
