For Umrah Visas, Pilgrims From Five Countries Must Submit Fingerprints

In order to obtain an electronic Umrah visa, pilgrims from the UK, Tunisia, Kuwait, Bangladesh, and Malaysia must provide their biometric data, including their fingerprints.
Saudi Visa Bio app allows pilgrims to register via fingerprints and selfie biometrics to attend significant Muslim pilgrimages.
As part of a commitment made by the Saudi government late last year, the new app allows pilgrims to enroll in biometrics through mobile devices, eliminating the need to visit visa centers personally. It also marks the country as one of the first in the world to issue visas based on biometrics.
Also in February 2022, the kingdom released an electronic passport with a chip storing biometric data.
