For the first time ever, Saudi Arabia will celebrate the Founding Day on February 22 with a series of exciting events and celebrations that will astonish residents and visitors alike.

Riyadh will also have its share of celebrations, as the city's towers have already been lit with green lighting to prepare for the holiday.

To introduce modern Saudis to their heritage and customs, there will also be traditional art and exhibitions of early photos on Founding Day.

According to Al Arabiya, seminars, meetings and workshops will be held at the King Fahad National Library from Wednesday until Friday to introduce visitors to the cultural heritage of the first Saudi state.

Through the creation of popular markets, the display of traditional Saudi clothes, interactive exhibitions and historical plays, Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District will offer visitors a chance to revisit history and take them back to three centuries ago.

Public sector employees and students will also enjoy a long weekend with Thursday off in celebration of Saudi Founding Day on Wednesday.

In accordance with a royal decree, founding day has become an annual public holiday since last year. In 1727, when Imam Mohammad bin Saud led the first Saudi state, "Founding Day" was celebrated for the first time.
