Late Thursday, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) raised the rain alert level in Jeddah to a warning.
Until Friday morning at 11 a.m., the weather warning will remain in effect.
The current 'weather conditions' caused some flights at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah to be delayed.
Travelers were asked to communicate with airlines to receive new flight departure times.
The center forecasted thunderstorms and heavy rains in Jeddah, along with surface winds, hail, high waves, and torrential rain, as well as low visibility.
When the NCM issues its warning, the crisis and disaster management center at Makkah emirate urges residents not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
To ensure their safety, people should avoid approaching sites where rainwater accumulates," the center said.
In preparation for any rain-related emergencies, the Jeddah Municipality has prepared its equipment and manpower.
