The Shoura Council on Monday demanded Housing Minister Majed Al-Hogail to expedite handing over housing units to families on social insurance program.
Deputy Chairman of the Shoura Council Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatani demanded that the Housing Ministry should have a clear timetable for handing over housing units in projects which have been completed.
Assistant Chairman of the Shoura Council Dr. Yahya Al-Samaan said in a statement to the press after the Council session a decision was taken after listening to the views of the Haj, Housing and Services Committee.
The Council asked the Housing Ministry to study setting the highest income level for families entitled to support from the ministry.
The Council asked the ministry to specify a certain percentage of housing units to financially incapable families in its housing projects in planned districts.
The Shoura Council also approved amending a part of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund. As per the amendment, the Fund’s loan should be at least 50% of the required financing for the projects or its development.
It said the Council of Ministers has the discretion to raise the percentage to 75% in less developed regions or cities and for industries deemed as strategic as per the opinion of the minister of energy.
