Enhancing E-hailing Services: Transport Authority Implements Stricter Regulations
Category: Saudi Arabia

In a move to boost accountability and improve service quality, the Transport General Authority (TGA) announced the enforcement of revised regulations governing taxis, cab brokers, and e-hailing vehicles. Under the new rules approved by Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics and Chairman of TGA, e-hailing drivers face temporary suspension if they cancel five rides within a month.

The updated regulations aim to address key challenges faced by investors, beneficiaries, and workers in the transportation sector, aligning with the goals outlined in the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services. Notable revisions include facilitating investor tasks, introducing a pre-acceptance view of drop-off locations for drivers, and combating the concerning trend of ride cancellations.

The measures not only seek to enhance user experience but also streamline operational procedures and promote investment in the sector. E-hailing companies are mandated to implement systems for returning lost items and deter unauthorized use of private vehicles as taxis.

By clarifying the scope of taxi activities and fostering compliance through electronic linkage with regulatory systems, the amendments aim to elevate service standards while tackling pertinent industry challenges.

The TGA remains committed to identifying and addressing transportation sector issues, ensuring efficiency and quality in service delivery for investors, beneficiaries, and workers.
