Divorced Women With A Custody Deed Can Travel With Her Sons
Category: Saudi Arabia

If they have a custody agreement, divorced women in Saudi Arabia can travel with their sons.

As per the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat), custody deeds include the new ones as well as the old ones that prohibit the mother from traveling with her son. The old deeds had been issued before the new amendments to the regulation.

Upon obtaining a custody deed, Jawazat added that the custodian could make an appointment and visit the Jawazat department to receive a custody passport and electronic travel permit.

Children between the ages of 18 and 21 can travel with one or both of their parents, or with their parents' approval. The legal age for travel without the need to issue a travel permit is 21 years (in Hijri year).

Using Absher and Jawazat's departments, you can check all the requirements to issue a travel permit for boys under 21.

The Jawazat clarified the procedure for renewing or obtaining a passport for a child whose custody is in the name of one of the parents. It stated that both parents' Absher accounts can be used, either the father or the mother.
