Crackdown On Tasattur: Foreign Workers Apprehended In Jeddah Raids
Category: Crime News

In Jeddah, enforcement efforts by the National Program to Combat Commercial Concealment (Tasattur) have led to the apprehension of numerous foreign workers involved in illicit activities. A total of 15 Tasattur cases were unearthed during extensive inspections conducted at the primary vegetable market and other vital public utility markets within the Jeddah governorate. Legal actions were promptly taken against both individuals and establishments found complicit in these violations.

The raids were carried out by a collaborative effort involving officials from various government bodies, including the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The targeted inspections encompassed a wide array of commercial entities, sales points, and stalls, resulting in the identification and seizure of 15 suspected cases of Tasattur in the vegetable and fruit sector. Perpetrators were summoned to undergo due legal procedures.

The inspection teams meticulously verified the authenticity of commercial records, municipal licenses, and labor permits to ensure compliance with Saudization regulations and to prevent the employment of illegal residents. Stringent penalties under the Anti-Commercial Concealment Law await those found guilty, including imprisonment for up to five years, fines reaching up to SR5 million, and the confiscation of illicit funds following final judicial rulings.
