Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has announced the start of the first phase of localizing jobs in the consultancy sector.

Following the expiration of the grace period for consultancy jobs, the localization of the sector took effect on April 6.

MHRSD aims to provide a stimulating and productive working environment for Saudi men and women, increase their participation in the labor market, and strengthen their economic contributions.

In the first phase of the localization, 30% of the professions of consultants and specialists were included, which is expected to increase job opportunities for both men and women.

The localization of consultancy and professions is part of MHRSD's cooperation with supervising bodies, including the Ministry of Finance, the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority, the Expenditure and Project Efficiency Authority, and the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF)

This cooperation seeks to enhance the presence of human cadres in the sector, to increase the percentage of Saudis working in the sector, and to organize the labor market in this strategic sector.

By supporting the training and qualification of employees, supporting the employment procedures and more, MHRSD will support the private sector establishments in hiring Saudis.

Following up on the commitment to include localization requirements in consulting contracts is the responsibility of the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority. In addition, it has issued a guide that clarifies the details of localizing the consultancy sector and professions.

Violations of the provisions must be adhered to by establishments to avoid legal penalties.
