Local media reported that Saudi Arabia will punish anyone who physically attacks a teacher or staff member with 10 years in prison and/or a fine of SR1 million.
The law also covers those who verbally abuse teachers.
It was enacted following a number of incidents in which teachers were brutally attacked. As his friend filmed the ugly incident, a Saudi Arabian high school student beat up his teacher in broad daylight. On social media, a video of a student slapping and punching his teacher has gone viral.
One of his students punched a Saudi high school teacher in class in 2018, leaving him bleeding and injured. When the educator was registering attendance at a school in Al Taif, an attack occurred.
Upon reaching the perpetrator's desk, he called out the student's name, who stood up and punched the victim.
Saudi Twitter went viral after images of the teacher being treated by paramedics went viral. The same year, a student hit his teacher with a rock, injuring him in the head, while in 2017, a student attacked his teacher in Dhahran, causing him to suffer a facial injury.
