The third Arab-ASEAN International Conference on Higher Education, organized by the International Islamic University in cooperation with the Association of Arab Universities (AARU), began in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
More than 69 presidents, directors and representatives of universities from Arab countries and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are attending the conference. The meeting will discuss the challenges facing higher education and ways to enhance the overall quality of this sector.
The experts will suggest ways to develop tools and mechanisms for measuring the performance of universities, and ways to benefit from the experiences of each other.
According to a British Council report, higher education systems in the ASEAN region are becoming more open for international engagement.
