India's Director General of Civil Aviation extends the ban on international flights till 31st December 11:59 PM in view of the outbreak of the Corona virus, states the government circular.
However, the circular said that international scheduled flights may be allowed certain routes by the competent authority on case to case basis.
- India imposed a lockdown in the end of March and grounded its domestic and international flights. Later in June, the government allowed limited operations of Air India flights under 'Vande Bharat' mission to bring back Indians stuck outside the country due to pandemic.
- On May 25, Government allowed domestic flight services but at one-third capacity, then it increased to 45% and 60%.
- By Thursday, India's Corona cases reached 9,266,705 after 44,489 new infections in 24 hours reaching 452,344 active cases, 8,678,138 recoveries and 135,223 deaths after 524 new fatalities.
