Saudi Arabian WhatsApp users are advised to update their app to avoid serious malware threats.

A high-security warning has been issued by the National Cyber Security Guidance Center regarding vulnerabilities in WhatsApp, the messaging application owned by Meta Platforms.

WhatsApp has released several updates to address vulnerabilities in the following versions:

• WhatsApp – Android: Pre version 2.22.16.12; Pre version 2.22.16.2; • WhatsApp Business – Android: - Pre version 2.22.16.12; Pre version 2.22.16.12; • WhatsApp – iOS: Pre version 2.22.16.12; Pre version 2.22.15.9;

WhatsApp Business - iOS - Version 2.22.16.12.

According to the center, hackers can exploit the vulnerability by sending malicious software remotely that causes the program to close suddenly. The center recommended updating the affected versions while noting that WhatsApp had explained these updates via the following link: https://www.whatsapp.com/security/advisories/2022.

Ensure that the affected versions are updated from the official stores, according to the center.
