The recent aggression near the Ban Al-Mandeb Strait and its surrounding areas is a cause for concern for the entire world, Vice Admiral Scott A. Stearney, Commander US Naval Forces Central Command and Commander of the US 5th Fleet, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.
The US Naval Forces will always remain in the region to protect maritime and commercial activities in the area, he said.
The US Naval Forces are ready to respond to any imminent and future threats in the south of the Red Sea, Stearney said.
“We will counter any threats to protect our interest and safeguard maritime trade,” he said.
Stearney said the US welcomes Saudi statement that exposed Iranian role in Yemen through the shipment of weapons to Houthis.
There are indications that Iran continues to provide support to Houthi militias, he added.
