In a heartbreaking incident, four teenagers lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries in a road collision involving their vehicle and another in the governorate of Muhayil, part of the Asir region in south-western Saudi Arabia. The details of the accident, which occurred on a Saturday, were reported by local media.

Responding swiftly, teams from the Saudi Red Crescent and security agencies rushed to the crash site. The cause of the collision remains unclear as investigations continue.

The report specified that three of the deceased were 16 years old, while the fourth was 18, highlighting the youthful tragedy of the incident.

This unfortunate event adds to a series of road accidents in Saudi Arabia in recent months, prompting intensified efforts to enforce traffic rules and crack down on violators. In November, a collision involving three cars claimed eight lives and left five critically injured in south-western Saudi Arabia. A month earlier, an expatriate was killed, and four Saudis were injured in a collision in the south-western city of Al Baha.

Official figures indicate that in 2022, traffic accidents in Saudi Arabia resulted in the loss of 4,555 lives, with 16,962 recorded as serious accidents. Despite a 6.8% decrease in serious accidents compared to the previous year, there was a 2.1% reduction in lives lost.
