As we all know that COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Although for most people COVID-19 causes only mild illness, but it can make some people very ill in many cases, the disease can be fatal. It is threatening to older people, and those with pre-existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes) appear to be more vulnerable.
The Kingdom worked very hard to obtain the vaccine. On Monday Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry announced that it would make the coronavirus vaccine available for free to all citizens and residents.
Priority will be given priority to those who have not tested positive for covid -19 in the vaccine campaign in the coming months,”announced Dr Abdullah Asiri, the assistant undersecretary at the ministry.
He also stated that those below 16 years of age will not be vaccinated unless research proves otherwise.
Saudi Arabia has asked citizens and residents to register them for its Covid-19 vaccination program. The program will be conducted in three phases; first it will be targeting people over 65 and those with chronic diseases and low immunity. The first phase will also cover people who are most exposed to the disease, such as health workers. The second and third stages will target those who are above 50. It is expected that the vaccines would cover 70 percent of the kingdom’s population by the end of 2021.
