Saudi Arabia is expected to witness its first cold wave of the season by the end of this week, with temperatures in some northern regions potentially dropping close to 0°C, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

NCM Confirms Drop in Temperatures After Rainfall

NCM spokesperson Hussein Al-Qahtani stated that the cold wave will follow the current round of rainfall that began on Sunday and is forecast to continue through Thursday, affecting nearly 12 regions across the Kingdom.

He explained that the combination of rainfall and incoming cold air masses is expected to significantly lower temperatures, particularly in northern areas. The NCM is expected to release a detailed report outlining the expected temperature drops and the regions most affected.

Thunderstorms Continue Across Several Regions

The National Center for Meteorology had earlier warned that thunderstorm activity will persist from Sunday through Thursday in multiple regions, including Makkah, Madinah, Al-Jouf, Qassim, and Hail.

Similar weather patterns have been observed recently, as highlighted in previous NCM warnings about heavy rain and flash floods affecting several parts of the Kingdom.

Northern Regions Most Affected by Cold Conditions

According to meteorologists, northern regions are likely to experience the sharpest temperature drop as the cold wave intensifies toward the end of the week. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.

Weather fluctuations during the winter season often prompt safety advisories, similar to recent alerts issued for unstable weather conditions across Saudi Arabia.
