Saudi Arabia is preparing for a strong cold wave as the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) issued a weather warning confirming that temperatures will plunge to as low as minus 2 degrees Celsius across several regions starting Saturday and lasting until Tuesday.
Regions Affected by the Saudi Cold Wave
According to the NCM weather alert, the cold wave will impact large parts of northern and central Saudi Arabia. The affected regions include:
- Al-Jouf
- Northern Borders
- Tabuk
- Hail
- Qassim
- Riyadh
- Northern areas of the Eastern Province
Residents in these regions should expect very cold conditions, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.
Temperatures to Drop Below Freezing
The NCM stated that minimum temperatures during this cold wave will range between 2°C and minus 2°C, increasing the risk of frost and cold-related health concerns.
Such extreme conditions are part of the Kingdom’s winter climate patterns, which have also been highlighted in recent weather updates such as Saudi Arabia’s heavy rain and storm warnings.
Public Advisory Issued by Saudi Meteorology
The Saudi National Center for Meteorology urged residents to take necessary precautions, including wearing warm clothing, protecting livestock, and avoiding unnecessary exposure to cold weather.
Authorities advised everyone to monitor official updates and safety instructions, similar to recent alerts issued during previous Saudi weather warnings.
Saudi Arabia’s Seasonal Weather Patterns
Cold waves are a natural part of winter in Saudi Arabia, particularly in northern and inland areas. These conditions reflect the Kingdom’s diverse climate, which ranges from extreme heat in summer to freezing temperatures in winter.
The latest cold wave highlights the importance of staying informed through official meteorological channels to ensure public safety.
